This page will guide the use through the set up and operation of RMS Express over HF with a SignaLink. One of the functions of this program is to conduct a propagation analysis for HF between two distant stations. This is done using VOACAP. VOACAP was managed by the US Government as a means for users of Voice of America to conduct propagation analysis of the signal. In order to make this function work, VOACAP will be downloaded during the setup process of the TNC.
1. After Winmor has been selected, Click on 'Open Session' in the red circle below:
2. When the session opens, several other windows will open. One window will be the waterfall. This waterfall exists so that users can visually see that the frequency is in use, as many times the radio speaker is disabled. The second window is nagware reminding you that you have the option to be a donation to WinLink. A $50 donation will buy you a key that will make the nagware not appear or you can Click 'Remind me later' and continue on.
3. If you know the Node and Frequency, enter the Node to be connected, and tune the radio to the frequency. RMS Express is always operated in USB. Ensure that you tune to the dial frequency and not the center frequecy as will be shown later. However, if you don't know the Node information, Click on 'Channel Selection' to bring up a list of available Nodes to choose from:
4. If not already loaded, a VOACAP download window will pop up and ask to download the program. Click 'Open Winlink Download Site'
